ABOUT

The piano has played a central role in my life from a young age. I worked through the ABRSM grades, and continued classical training at The Royal Irish Academy of Music. It was there  that I advanced my pianistic technique, musicianship and interpretative skills, and developed a real passion for teaching.

Shortly after completing my studies, I enrolled on the EPTA Piano Teachers’ Course to gain expertise from world-leading pianists and pedagogues. On attaining the Cert PTC, I made a commitment to become a first-rate, inspirational piano teacher.

I am a full professional member of the European Piano Teachers’ Association UK, and enjoy participating in regular CPD teacher training courses.

I hold a Franklin Method Hand Trainer License, and am currently studying toward Level 1 Certification.

I partake in performance masterclasses, study the Alexander Technique and Somatic Movement for the piano with Christos Noulis (‘somatics for musicians’), body mapping for musicians with Anita King (pianist and Association for Body Mapping Educator), and take individual Taubman Approach tuition with members of the Associate Faculty of The Golandsky Institute.

Having regular access to experts in the fields of Somatics as it relates to thinking and moving at the piano both structures and enriches my own practice and performance, allowing exceptional expression with physical ease and heightened awareness.

My continuing studies enable me to guide each of my pupils toward an understanding of a whole self approach to playing that is deeply satisfying and allows the freedom necessary to realise one’s highest potential.

I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate, and have worked in two schools.

“Piano practice helps me forget about the stresses of schoolwork and provides a completely different and exciting way to challenge myself…finding out I had been awarded a distinction for grade 7 was one of the best moments of last year :)”
